Contact and Corrections

Last reviewed · CardLore editorial

The most useful message this site receives is a correction. Card rules vary between card rooms and between households, and a page that presents one version as universal is wrong even when that version is the common one.

Reporting a rule that does not match

If a rule on this site does not match the way a game is dealt where you play, the following details make the report usable. Without them a correction usually cannot be checked.

  • The page and the exact sentence in question.
  • The rule as it is applied where you play.
  • Whether that is a commercial card room, a club or a private game.
  • Any published rule sheet the room follows, if you know of one.

Reports that describe a genuine regional or house variation lead to the variation being named on the page rather than the original text being replaced. See How We Write These Guides for how that decision is made.

What this site cannot help with

  • Rulings on a hand already played. Disputes belong to the floor supervisor of the room you were in, and their decision is final there.
  • Account or payment problems with a gambling operator. CardLore has no connection to any operator; see About CardLore.
  • Requests for strategy coaching or hand analysis. The site publishes rules and reference material only.
  • Advertising, sponsorship and link requests. The site carries none and the position is not negotiable.

How to get in touch

Editorial contact: — replace the bracketed text with the usual symbol, followed by this site’s domain.

Messages about rules are read and acted on. Messages about advertising are not answered. There is no telephone line and no postal address for correspondence.

Common questions

How long does a correction take?

A rule that is clearly wrong is changed as soon as it is verified. A reported variation takes longer, because the page then has to state both versions clearly rather than simply swapping one for the other.

Will I be credited for a correction?

Pages are not bylined and corrections are not individually credited, which keeps the page reading as a single current version rather than a changelog.

Do you accept guest articles?

No. All pages are written and maintained in-house to a fixed structure.
